When do the new Bologna study plans come into effect?

Right now. You can already enrol in a considerable number of degree courses at Spanish universities.

Some 200 firm proposals for qualifications adapted to the EHEA were presented between October 2007 and February 2008, to be taught from September 2008. The Universities Council gave a favourable opinion on 163 applications and finally, the governments of the autonomous regions authorised 106 degrees, registered in the RUCT (Register of Universities, Centre and Qualifications) to be offered for the 2008-2009 year.

Universities can still present their proposals for degree or masters courses. In fact, at the end of 2008 the number of applications for new degree qualifications totalled 775.
The new degree qualifications will therefore come into effect progressively.

Nevertheless, they must meet the following deadline: by the 2010-2011 academic year new places cannot be offered for the existing degree, diploma, architect, engineer, junior architect (3 years) or junior engineer (3 years) qualifications.

At the same time, from December 2008 onwards, at the proposal of the Directorate General of Universities, universities are already sending their proposals to the Universities Council for masters qualifications for the 2009-2010 year.
